Vanessa Peak, Educational, Administrative Professional
After serving her country in the United States Marine Corps for 11 years, she made the conscious career decision to follow her heart into education. She was awarded a BS in Workforce Education and Development in 1994, from Southern Illinois University. During this time, she worked as an educator in the Duval County, Florida School System as she pursued and was awarded an MA in Teaching from Jacksonville University only one year later, and currently obtaining her second Masters degree in Principal Leadership with NCSU/North East Leadership Academy.
During her career, her family has relocated for professional reasons allowing her to apply the skills of her chosen profession in Brussels, Belgium and Colombo, Sri Lanka, as well as Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and now North Carolina. She has been selected to oversee programs such as Project Lead the Way, a science, math and engineering program, the CIMS Reading Program, and the STEM Program, focusing on science, technology, engineering, and math. She also served as a member of her school Leadership Team, Interview Team, and Grade Level Chairperson. Also selected as the Teacher of the Year for 2012. During her time here in North Carolina she was assigned to the Halifax County school district. While in this area, she worked as the Reading Specialist for Everett’s Elementary School. She was selected for the NELA Leadership Program where she is currently working as a Principal Resident at Hollister Elementary School. While serving at Hollister Elementary, she has been selected to serve as the district Chairperson for the School Health Advisory Committee.
